Upgrading Veyo

Update the core plugin and your addons without losing products, print areas or saved designs.

Upgrading never deletes your data as long as you upgrade by uploading the new package over the old one. Your catalog, print areas, saved designs, fonts, colors, settings and license live in the database ({prefix}veyop_* tables), not in the plugin folder. Database changes are applied automatically and only ever add or alter columns.

How you find out about a new version

Veyo checks veyodesigner.com/updates.json about every 12 hours.

  • WordPress: a notice on the Plugins screen and on Veyo pages.
  • OpenCart / PrestaShop: a blue banner at the top of every Veyo admin page (dismiss it with ✕ until the next release), with an Open My Orders button.
  • All platforms: Settings → License & Updates always shows the newest version.

Updates are not installed automatically: you download the new ZIP from Lemon Squeezy → My Orders and upload it yourself. See what changed on the Releases page.

Before you upgrade

  • Back up the database (at minimum the {prefix}veyop_* tables) and your uploads folder.
  • Download the new ZIP from Lemon Squeezy → My Orders. Don't unzip it unless your platform asks for it.
  • Note your current version (Settings → License & Updates) so you can compare afterwards.

Core plugin

WordPress / WooCommerce

  1. Upload the new ZIP

Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose the new ZIP.

  2. Replace the current version

WordPress says the plugin already exists. Click Replace current with uploaded, then Activate if asked. With WP-CLI: wp plugin install <zip> --force --activate.

Downgrades are blocked. Veyo refuses to install an older version over a newer one (in the admin and in WP-CLI), because old code running on already-upgraded data can break. If you really need to roll back, add define('VEYOP_ALLOW_DOWNGRADE', true); to wp-config.php, install the older ZIP, then remove that line. Restore a database backup from before the upgrade for the cleanest rollback.

OpenCart 4

Do not upgrade through Extensions → Installer. OpenCart rejects the upload with “Extension already installed!” and only lets you remove the extension first, which is exactly what you want to avoid.
  1. Open Veyo's own updater

Go to Veyo Personalizer → Extensions and click Update Veyo.

  2. Choose the new package

Select veyo-opencart-4-vX.Y.Z.zip from My Orders (or the veyo.ocmod.zip inside it) and confirm.

  3. Let Veyo swap the files

Veyo replaces the extension/veyo folder in place, keeping the old version as a rollback copy in case anything fails, updates the version shown in the Installer, and reloads the page. Only a newer version is accepted.

  4. Clear the cache

On the OpenCart dashboard click the gear icon → Developer Settings → refresh the theme and SASS caches.

The extension/ folder must be writable by PHP. If it isn't, use the fallback below.

Fallback: manual update on OpenCart
  1. Check that Keep data when uninstalling is on in Settings → General → Data & uninstall.
  2. Extensions → Extensions → Modules → Veyo Product Personalizer → Uninstall (your data is kept).
  3. Extensions → Installer → Uninstall the Veyo row, then upload veyo.ocmod.zip (keep the exact file name) and click Install.
  4. Extensions → Extensions → Modules → Veyo Product Personalizer → Install.

PrestaShop 8/9

  1. Upload the module again

Modules → Module Manager → Upload a module and choose the new ZIP. PrestaShop recognizes the higher version and runs the Upgrade for you.

  2. Clear the cache

Advanced Parameters → Performance → Clear cache. If it times out, delete the contents of var/cache/prod and var/cache/dev over FTP/SSH.

Addons

Download the new addon ZIP from My Orders, then open Apps (WordPress) or Veyo → Extensions (OpenCart, PrestaShop) and click Upload ZIP. You can select several ZIPs at once.

  • Veyo moves the old addon aside, installs the new one and checks it. If the new one fails, the old one is restored automatically.
  • The addon's data (rules, presets, templates, jobs) stays, and its tables are updated automatically on the next request.
  • The addon's on/off state is stored separately, so an addon that was on stays on.
  • Addons survive a core upgrade; you don't need to reinstall them.
  • A signed official ZIP is shown as Official. An edited or unsigned one installs as a Custom build and gets no official update prompts; use Restore official ZIP to switch back.

After upgrading — checklist

  • The new version number shows in Settings → License & Updates.
  • Your license is still Active (no need to activate again).
  • Apps / Extensions still lists your installed addons.
  • Linked products, print areas and saved designs are still there.
  • Open a product on the storefront → Design this product → the designer loads and you can add to cart.
  • Still seeing old styling or behavior? Clear page, CDN and browser caches, and reload PHP (OPcache).
